Born 27 November 1948 to Patrick and Mary O'Sullivan, Bredagh Cross, Drimoleague. Seven in the family, six boys and one girl. Brother of the late D.F. O'Sullivan (M.C.C.)
Now residing in Clonakilty with his wife Paddi, nee O’Connell from Kinsale. Interests include horses, trotting, sulky racing, road bowling and restoring old cottages. Deeply rooted in West Cork.
Since his election to Cork County Council in 1999, Christy has been a full-time public representative.
Seeing the problems faced in his constituency first hand prompted Christy to contest the 1999 Council election as an Independent where he received an overwhelming endorsement from the people, with 2,510 first preference votes, topping the poll.
He also stood as an Independent candidate for the Dáil election of May 2002, where he was extremely encouraged by the support he received from the people of Cork South West with 3,609 first preference votes.
In 2004, Christy was again successfully elected to Cork County Council (2,859 first preference votes).
