Thank you to everyone who supported me in this very tough election campaign. I particularly want to thank my family and friends who gave up so much of their free time. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve the people of Cork South West since May 2007. In that short time, I achieved a lot but there was still much work to be done.
I regret that my constituency office will have to close and my staff will no longer be available to assist the public. My son Christopher and my daughter Ann continue to represent the interests of ordinary West Cork people in their respective political capacities. And while unfortunately I am no longer in a position to provide a staffed constituency office we will be available to assist you in any way we can through this website. We will be enhancing our online service in an effort to provide a basic service.
Those of you with an interest in our party know that we adhere to the traditional Fianna Fail values as they existed long before there was any talk of tigers or booms. This being the tradition of representing the ordinary people. We will continue to help you in any way we can with the resources at our disposal.
If our advice or experience is ever required we are more than willing to assist.
To poll over 10,700 first preference Fianna Fail votes and then not get a seat to represent those voters is an inexcusable error and is symptomatic of the depth of the problems our party needs to address. While I was obviously, as the sitting candidate, not in favour of a second Fianna Fail candidate I feel I must apologize for not preventing this inexcusable blunder. In total up to 8 seats were lost to our voters by such blunders in vote management in this election. We need to analyze exactly what lead to such basis mistakes in order to ensure that our voters are properly represented in the future.
You can continue to contact either myself, Christopher or Ann through this website.
Is mise le meas,
Christy
